Driving Directions

From Route 18 Northbound
Continue along Route 18 North past the exits for "Route 27" and "Rutgers University" and proceed over the Raritan River on the John Lynch Memorial Bridge.  Take the Livingston Campus exit and turn right at the light (Davidson Road), proceeding past the Louis Brown Athletic Center and towards Beck Hall. Turn left at Rockefeller Road. Turn right at Joyce Kilmer Ave.

Parking is available across the street from the Campus Bookstore on Joyce Kilmer Avenue.  Walk toward the Book Store.  Lucy Stone Hall is the building behind the Bookstore.  Enter the A wing of Lucy Stone Hall.  The Sociology Seminar Room is on the second floor, in room A 256.

From New Jersey Turnpike (North or South)
Turn off at Exit 9. After toll booths bear to the right; follow signs for "Route 18 North -New Brunswick." Follow directions from Route 18 Northbound.

From Garden State Parkway (North or South)
Southbound - Coming from northern New Jersey
Turn off at Exit 129 for the New Jersey Turnpike and head south. Turn off at Exit 9. After toll booths bear to the right; follow signs for "Route 18 North -New Brunswick." Follow directions from Route 18 Northbound.

Northbound - Coming from southern New Jersey
Turn off at Exit 105 and follow signs for Route 18 North.
Continue on Route 18 North (for approximate 25 miles). Follow directions from Route 18 Northbound.

From Route 1 (North or South)
Turn off at exit marked "Route 18 North-New Brunswick" then follow directions from Route 18 Northbound.

From Route 287 (North or South)
Turn off at Exit 9 "River Road/Bound Brook/Highland Park ".   Proceed East on River Road toward Highland Park (approximately 4 miles) until you reach at the intersection of River Road and Route 18. Turn left at the River Road traffic light onto Route 18 North.  Exit immediately at the Livingston Campus exit and turn right at the light (Davidson Road), proceeding past the Louis Brown Athletic Center and towards Beck Hall. Turn left at Rockefeller Road. Turn right at Joyce Kilmer Ave. See Route 18 North directions above for parking information.

Via Public Transit


Trains and Buses
New Jersey Transit's Northeast Corridor Line provides New Brunswick with both local and express service between New York and Newark's Penn Stations and Trenton New Jersey. (For Information 201-762-5100). SEPTA (Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority) provides service at Trenton to and from Philadelphia. (For Information 215-580-7800). Amtrak provides limited direct service to New Brunswick, however connections can easily be made via New Jersey Transit trains to principle Amtrak stations at Metro Park, New York and Trenton. (For Information 1-800-USA-RAIL).

New Jersey Transit also provides bus service to New Brunswick (For Information 732-249-1100): New York City Express - Service between Princeton and New York City with a stop at the New Brunswick Train Station. 135 - Service between Manville and New York City with a stop at the New Brunswick Train Station. 60 - Service between New Brunswick and Somerville with a stop at the New Brunswick Train Station.

From New Brunswick Train Station to Campus
The New Brunswick Train Station is located at the corner of Albany Street and Easton Avenue across from the Rutgers Bookstore. Cab service is available from the train station.

Campus Bus routes L and LX have a stop on George Street just before Somerset Street; both buses will take you to Lucy Stone Hall on Livingston Campus.

For the College Avenue Campus proceed up Easton Avenue (short hill) and turn right on Somerset Street. Proceed for half a block and turn left onto College Avenue. On your immediate right is the historic Old Queen's Campus (part of the College Avenue Campus complex) including the Undergraduate Admissions Office in Van Nest Hall.

Information and directions for reaching other campuses or facilities can be obtained at either the Rutgers Student Center's Information Desk or the Campus Bus Depot.

Campus Bus connections to Lucy Stone Hall: Catch the L or LX from College Ave Campus; the REXL from Cook/Douglass Campus; or the B from Busch Campus.
