Lawrence D. Bobo is the W.E.B. DuBois Professor of the Social Sciences at Harvard University where he holds appointments in the Departments of Sociology and African and African American Studies. He currently serves as the Dean of the Social Sciences at Harvard. His research focuses on the intersection of social inequality, politics and race. Professor Bobo’s most recent book, Prejudice in Politics: Group Position, Public Opinion, and the Wisconsin Treaty Rights Dispute, was a finalist for the 2007 C. Wright Mills Award. He is co-author of the award-winning Racial Attitudes in America: Trends and Interpretations, and founding editor of the Du Bois Review: Social Science Research on Race, published by Cambridge University Press. In 2012, he was awarded the Cooley-Mead lifetime achievement award for distinguished scholarship from the Social Psychology Section of the American Sociological Association. Professor Bobo is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences as well as a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
