  • Ethan Yoo (he/him) is a first-year doctoral student in the Department of Sociology at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. His research interests include computational social science, environmental sociology, and policy analysis, with a focus on disability and caregiving, poverty and social mobility, and climate change vulnerability across the life course. A first-generation college graduate and AmeriCorps VISTA alumnus, Ethan earned bachelor’s degrees from Swarthmore College (political science and educational studies) and Thomas Edison State University (computer science). He also holds a Master of Information (MI) in data science from Rutgers University School of Communication and Information, where he continued to support research and instruction in the Department of Library and Information Science after graduation.

    As an MI student, Ethan participated in interdisciplinary fellowship programs at the Eagleton Institute of Politics and The Boggs Center on Disability and Human Development, leading to experiences with the Center for Research on Ending Violence (REV), the New Jersey Early Intervention System (NJEIS), and the State of the States in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Project. Before starting his PhD, Ethan conducted data analysis and program evaluation at the Office of Human Services Emergency Preparedness and Response (OHSEPR) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF).

    His work has been accepted by the Journal of Community Practice, Disability and Health Journal, the 10th North American Symposium on Knowledge Organization (NASKO 2025), and the 88th Association for Information Science and Technology Annual Meeting (ASIS&T 2025).
