  • Jeffrey Dowd is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Sociology. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Rutgers University and his BA from Kean University. He teaches a variety of courses at Rutgers including Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Race Relations, and Six Great Reads. Jeff has previously taught in the Writing Program and Criminology department at Rutgers as well as in Sociology at Montclair University, Kean University, and Goucher College. His research interests include racial discourse and pedagogy (e.g. teaching styles and student learning preferences). He has served on the executive council of Rutgers AAUP-AFT and remains active with the labor movement at Rutgers.
